Subject: Lyr Add: TURNING TOWARD THE MORNING (Gordon Bok) From: Bob Clayton Date: 24 Jun 97 - 03:07 PM Well, this is probably NOT the song you requested, but two things strike me about it that cause me to give it to you anyway. One is the "Janie/Joanie don't you know" similarity -- not many songs will have that strong a connection unless they're the same song. The other is the crying/dying part, which is the point of the song I have here, if not the words themselves. If this is the WRONG song, ignore it. If it's the right one, great! Whichever, it's a good song. Here it is: TURNING TOWARD THE MORNING (Gordon Bok) As recorded by Gordon Bok, Ann Mayo Muir, and Ed Trickett on "Turning Toward the Morning" (1975)
1. When the deer has bedded down and the bear has gone to ground,
CHORUS: Oh, my Joanie, don't you know that the stars are swinging slow,
2. Now October's growing thin and November's coming home.
3. When the darkness falls around you and the north wind come to blow,
4. It's a pity we don't know what the little flowers know:
5. Now, my Joanie, don't you know that the days are rolling slow, |

Subject: Lyr Add: SONG FOR JAINIE (Tim Buckley) From: Jim Dixon Date: 24 Feb 10 - 01:22 PM I think this is the one that was wanted. Found on a Chinese web site: SONG FOR JAINIE Tim Buckley You've got the untortured mind of a woman Who has answered all the questions before. You've got the free-givin' ways of a woman Who has kicked all the heartache out the door. And Jainie, don't you know? Jainie, don't you know? I been tryin'. Jainie, don't you know? Jainie, don't you know? I been tryin'. Yes, I'd truly love to be with you If I wasn't with the one that I'm with. Yes, I'd truly love to lie with you If I didn't have to give what I give. [Recorded by Tim Buckley on his 1966 debut LP "Tim Buckley."] |
