I've a couple of short stories I want to submit to some high mucky-muck tv programs but they will not accept anything unless it is from an establish literary or talent agent.

Do any of you know of any you'd recommend? The ones I've contacted in the past didn't want to deal with short stories. I will go look some more, as it's been awhile.

Anyway, if you have any suggestions, thanks a bunch!

kat

At the risk of being redundant, and the fact you might have already been here, try this web site as a starting point.

I would also contact all the major networks (phone numbers are available doing a search on the various networks on the net) and ask for the name(s) of the talent coordinators for the particular shows you're interested in writing for. Now while they probably won't take any info submitted directly from you, ask them to recommend some agencies that they deal with, for you to contact and gets names and numbers (then you can say you were referred by so and so at [name of] network when you contact them.)

Next, do a search on the net for Publishers (or pull out a bunch of paper backs you've got lying around and get the info within them - finding addresses and phone numbers on the net shouldn't be difficult), and contact them and ask for some names of literary agents they deal with, with contact names and phone numbers, and contact those people and say you were referred by whoever at the publishing companies, and so on and so on.

Best of luck and let us know how you make out.

Hey, JP, thanks for that site link. That is one I'd not stumbled across. Thanks also for your other suggestions. I did go through this, on a ltd. basis, without as much solid work as I have now, a couple of years ago. Time to polish things off and start looking, again.

Comments of readers of the two stories I have in mind have prompted me to look into this on a serious basis.

Thanks, very much,

kat

Another thought.
Production companies. The ones that produce shows for the networks. There's an "in". Do a search for television and video production companies as well. Start getting religious about jotting down info when you watch shows on A&E, TLC, PBS, etc...and note at the end of the credits who the production companies are, and find their contact info on the net as well, call them, and ask the same questions I mentioned in the previous thread.

It's all detective work really, and is time consuming, and without any friends in the biz to open doors, these are the routes to go. You'll develop a savvy way to "market" yourself as you go through these processes.
