I came across this website today, doing my anti-war reading for the day. I thought I'd share it with folks here who might be interested in what others in the music community are doing. Not folk, but still nice to see all those names on the "Not in Our Name" benefit CD.

Music for Peace

Yep, definately not folk. Has some potential with folks that want to have a rocking good time 'concerting for peace.' I didn't get too far until all of the promos for concerts and CDs started popping up but hey... War mongers make money from war, why shouldn't peace artists?

The artists did a benefit gig, and donated songs to a CD to raise money for the anti-war organization Not in Our Name:

It didn't look to me like the artists were promoting sales of their own CDs through this website, though there are links to each artist's official websites.

Personally, I love a lot of the musicians who have contributed to this effort, and every little bit helps.

Also, after just reading and commenting in the same vein in the thread on Country Joe, is there some problem you have, Walking Eagle, with artists donating services and their artistic product to be used to make money for anti-war organizations?

The majority of these musicians have been artist/activists for decades, and are no "johnny come lately" types. They have taken strong political stands that, in some of their cases, had negative impacts upon their careers.

This morning, your remarks seem even more like sour grapes than they did to me last night when I first read them.
