Following the UK successful Olympic bid it has been suggested that Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle be turned into Olympic flats.
This would mean a complete makeover for both premises.Ideas for the makeover have been taken from the recent succesful TV programmes and the following plans have been suggested.
The exterior of both buildings should be clad in stone possibly with the cement joints picked out in a colour.The windows to be replaced with White UPVC Double glazed windows with mock Georgian leaded diamond pattern.The old oak doors of course removed and matching doors to the windows be put in their place.The interior to be decluttered any old furniture and paintings to be dumped.Oak panneling to be removed and tastfully redecorated in magnolia emulsion.The old floorong to be taken up and replaced with laminate,
light beech preferred. The ceilings to be white emulsioned with polystyrene coving around the perimeter, this would replace the existing coving which is much too fussy.The gardens are to be dug up and replaced with decking with a few water features.Ideally that spray water over the decking and make it so slippery any feared athlete could be taken for a stroll in this area.
We are of course open for suggestions for further ideas.
Knocking down both buildings and replacing them with high rise flats was refused as being too silly.

How about a 'theme' palace? Each room is decorated differently. For example: To the right you'll notice the tasteful yet brash "Battle of Hastings Room." Note the spear, symbolic of the arrow that . . . .

Or, "and here we have the 'So, you want to be a piano player room.' Note the blowup of Elton John. The bed is encased in the appropriately-sized baby grand, and the windows are nailed shut becaused we don't want the candle to be blown out by the draft."

Peace - I think that is more likely to be 'notice the blown up Elton John'.....
