Subject: Song Challenge: Roo Poo Paper From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 11 May 06 - 09:48 PM No - I'm NOT making this up! Actually, recycling roo poo is very suitable for making paper, something about the fibres being the right length, etc, and paper is made all around the world from similar sources, including elks. It's not as if we don't have enough of the little buggers hopping around here... look - Page 1 of 6,855 results containing roo poo paper (0.10 seconds) Creative Paper Tasmania - Hand Made Australian Papers Joanna Gair, manager of handmade paper company Creative Paper Tasmania, says production of 'roo poo paper' only started in the past two weeks but she has been thinking about the idea for some time. Subject: RE: Song Challenge: Roo Poo Paper From: Howard Kaplan Date: 11 May 06 - 10:14 PM Well, I just happen to have already written a song which is, in part, about roo poo and the dung beetles that evolved to harvest it. Here's the relevant verse: If you're a biophysicist, then you can calculate That beasts can't move efficiently above a certain weight By hopping on their hind legs, and the mass this rule allows Means kangaroos cannot evolve to be the size of cows. In consequence, the dung they leave is golf-ball sized, or less, And so Australia's coprophagous fauna could address Itself to handling the smaller forms of pre-digested leaf, But not the kind that's left behind by half-ton hunks of beef. The song also refers to dung-based termite nests, which you might consider to be the result of a process akin to papermaking. If you want to see the whole song, you can find it here. |
