Who is aware of Howard Stith and recordings he made (if so)? I met him in Hamburg in the year of 1969 at Danny's Pan, a former place for folk, blues aso..
He is still alive living in NH, but because of difficulties in contacting him why don't try to ask the "Mudcats".

Thanks in advance,

Manfred from Germany

Howard and his wife still live in Dover, NH -- got an email from Barb with a question a couple months ago, but even after I mentioned that he was being inquired after on Mudcat, I didn't get a response.

I WILL email her again and pass on this information -- maybe Howard will look up this thread!

I think he's still on the road a lot -- performing throughout the Midwest, etc. We compare notes on Leinenkugel when we get together, but I haven't seen either of them for maybe a year or so.

Thanks a lot for your reply, Linn. And to tell the rest of this story: I have had contact to Howard "Poor Howard" Stith by phone a couple of years ago, when he recovered from illness. I told him of about 15 songs performed by him and privately recorded by myself in 1969 which I still own (tape-recorded). Some time later I sent a copy to him never hearing a word about this.
Don't know whether he did receive his fine recordings or not because in those days I did not try another approach to contact him.
Well, one can say: call him again (about this or recordings he possibly performed in the meantime of nearly 40 years, which is my main interest).
On the other hand I believe, that-if so-Mudcats could remember songs issued by Howard. I know about a sampler called "Songs from the bubble (?)" but this CD -an Interlocken production- is not available outside the US.

Again, thanks for your help and interest,

Manfred from Germany (manfred.goetze@freenet.de)
