The festival is the weekend of 18-20 June. Successor to Four Fools (Ken and Angi Blades ran it before moving north) and Redditch.

I'll be there with Pat Spoons. I'm partial to a bit of Blues (did you catch Eric Bibb live on last night's Paul Jones show? He finished with a stormer of a song). If our schedule allows, I'll bring me gobiron.

I was on this festival last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. A great festival for singers and those who like singing. Alcester is a pleasant little town too. A fine weekend. Go to it. Burl.

Will be my first Alcester. Good to learn it's a great singing festival - presumably built on Angie and Ken Bladen's start.

Thanks for background Kitty

Not long too till their "new" festival (Four Fools) in Chorley.

What with boundary shifting, Splow has now become Lower Roath or East Atlantic Wharf, though the day will come when they will become Upper Splott and West Splott.

Margaret Walters will be singing at Alcester & Arden Festival.
She'll be over from Australia on an all too brief UK mini tour - no longer performing WITH John Warner,
she WILL be doing many of the songs they recorded together though (with his blessing).
Some dates solo, others accompanied by Duncan McFarlane on guitar and cittern - including Alcester.

Huh folkies!
Us CAMRA lot do our bit to encourage a great pub for beer drinkers (The Holly Bush, which often happens to have a bit of local music and singing too) and we also discover two other great drinking pubs in the town good enough to put in the Good Beer Guide (The Three Tuns & The Turk's Head).
And then what happens? As Snuffy says: it seems to get over-run at beer festival time! I've ever heard that there may be some local mummers there on the Friday night to interupt our concentrated drinking!
What next? Music and singing and other jollity throughout our beer festival, I suppose? And I bet some of our tastiest beers run out by Sunday too! Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear!
"Come landlord fill the flowing bowl ...!"
Alan

Have just returned home from the day trip to Alcester - didn't we have a lovely time! ...... have seen most of the Catters who said they'd be there (but missed Emma B), heard (among others) the Shellbacks, Margaret and Duncan (twice), and the augmented Cloudstreet, signed the Mudcat sheet, sang in the Holly Bush.

Tomorrow afternoon is the Cloudstreet album launch, in the nursery, with balloons, lollies and champagne.

Great weekend and the Holly Bush played great hosts to many of us - even complimented us on the good behaviour of our children!!! Didn't catch many artists but did get some singing in particulary on Friday night at the bottom of the garden! Met many 'catters old and new friends.

Wonderful weekend, topped off by the midsummer madness of the survivors session in Moor & Coast last night, with Col K leading off on several songs, and the competition to sing the worst song (was it Nobody's Child or How much is that Doggie in the Window?

Superb organisation as usual, and aren't the acoustics in the Fire Station phenomenal?

No, Snuffy fell asleep at the BACK of the hall. Did hear who it was at the front but can't remember.

Col and I went through the sheet and added names for all of you who forgot to sign. We worked out there were about 32 of us around during the weekend that we knew. At one point there were 15 Mudcats in Moor and Coast - a minigathering in itself.

Brilliant festival. Thanks to Dave, Marje, Green Man and Blue Mamma plus all the others who worked so hard to make it so.
