Due to unfortunate circumstances beyond everyone's control the start of this tour will now be Kate Burke solo as her duo partner Ruth Hazleton has been unavoidably delayed back in Australia by a "minor health glitch that required immediate attention". After minor surgery the plan is that Ruth will rejoin Kate in a week or so to complete the summer UK tour (so please check their websites to see where to catch them in duo form).

Kate is an adept and experienced performer in her own right. The Melbourne roots music scene witnesses a lot of cross pollination between various groups and aggregations and Kate is an integral part of this. She's also a key member of the award winning quartet 'Trouble In The Kitchen' who have themselves just finished a visit to Europe.

I saw this duo at the National in Canberra last year and they were absolutely brilliant.

Any info available about tour dates, venues etc?

They ARE brilliant, I concur. Well worth going to see them.
I understand they are touring in Ireland later, with Andy Irvine.

This came from Ruth on the blog on the MySpace site two days ago...

"There have been a few very sad and might I say inappropriate rumours circulating that because I have been unwell and unable to travel to the UK as planned, the whole tour is in demise and will be conducted by Kate alone….

This is quite simply UNTRUE!! I am on the mend, anxious to get on the road, waiting for the green light from the doc and cannot wait to sing & play tunes, greet the bumblebees and have a few warm ales in warm weather (oh so cold here in Melbourne)… so… my deepest apologies for not making it to the first few gigs – I simply haven't been able to travel.

Please support Katie as she will be doing a solo gig or two in the meantime… I may be biased, but she is an outstanding musician, an amazing singer and songwriter and a great live performer.

All is well… see you in the UK & Ireland very soon…
