Subject: Suggestion for Max From: murray@mpce.mq.edu.au Date: 12 Jun 99 - 05:17 AM I have noticed a number of comments about long threads and the time it takes for them to load. I wonder, Max, if it would be possible to put in a function that controls the number of postings in a given thread to load. Like search engines do. They give you the first ten choices and then the chance to ask for the next ten. If you haven't logged in for a long time, you would probably would want it to be "head" oriented. That is the first ten, then the next, etc. If you log in regularly, however, you would want it to be "tail" oriented. That is the last ten, etc. It would be good to have a choice there, as well as a choice of how many to load at a time. Murray |

Subject: RE: Suggestion for Max From: Barbara Date: 12 Jun 99 - 11:32 AM You can, if you are fast, hit the sort Ascending/Descending switch at the top, and that will make the thread load in reverse order. Blessings, Barbara |

Subject: RE: Suggestion for Max From: Dale Rose Date: 12 Jun 99 - 12:01 PM I guess I have been missing the comments about slow loading. (I am a lot more selective about what I read than I used to be) Anyone complaining how slow it is ought to think about how it used to be. I am satisfied with the way it is, and I seldom get more than a 26.4 connection. |
