Subject: RE: Rainham Oast Old Time Sessions (ROOTS) From: GUEST,Graham Date: 10 Sep 09 - 11:40 AM Music & Dance workshops & Concert 2009 This will be our third day of music and dance including workshops, jamming and an evening concert. The aim of our workshops and concert is to encourage new blood and demonstrate the fun aspect of our music and dance, although I'm sure there will be many familiar faces. We have not had any Guitar workshops so far and for such a popular instrument it often gets overlooked, but for this particular workshop day we have Chris Moreton, one of the best flat pick guitar players around so hope it will be well supported. Come along to jam or take part in the hands on workshops, or just sit back and enjoy the evening concert. Tell your friends or any budding musicians you know, dig the banjo, fiddle or guitar out from the loft, get it set up and bring it along. Don't forget to dust off your dancing shoes! This is a fun day. If you haven't danced or played that fiddle for years this is your chance to get back into the swing of things and enjoy the social life that goes with it. |

Subject: RE: Rainham Oast Old Time Sessions (ROOTS) From: GUEST Date: 11 Sep 09 - 04:42 AM I have been given an old auto harp with 4 of the 6 dampers in place. Anyone interested? I'd like to think about it going to a good home even if used for spares. Flora G Medway. |

Subject: RE: Rainham Oast Old Time Sessions (ROOTS) From: GUEST Date: 13 Sep 09 - 03:32 AM When I was at Whitby this year I met an American lady - there for the first time. When she said she played the guitar the one guitarist I recommended she try to see during the week was Chris Moreton. My band often moan at me for the speed I like to play tunes at - but I Know Chris can easily outplay me. I've heard him rattle off some classical orchestra pieces as well as the usual reportoire. I think most guitarists would gain something from a workshop by him even if they are not in the bluegrass tradition. Flora G. |
