Subject: Canadian musician Dick Howe From: GUEST,guest Date: 12 Feb 21 - 06:14 AM Researching Scottish songs (particularly in the Scots language rather than English and Gaelic), I've come across a reference to this cassette: 'A Scotsman in Canada' - Dick Howe. RMFC Records 8701. Google searches aren't throwing up much other information about this. Please, does anybody know anything about Dick Howe and/or this cassette release? Thanks. |

Subject: RE: Canadian musician Dick Howe From: GUEST,# Date: 12 Feb 21 - 12:58 PM https://sailarrgh.livejournal.com/8571.html There are two links in that blog/article that you could check. I expect you'll find the info you're looking for there. |

Subject: RE: Canadian musician Dick Howe From: GUEST,# Date: 12 Feb 21 - 01:05 PM 'A Scotsman in Canada' - Dick Howe. RMFC Records 8701 I suspect the RMFC in the description means Rocky Mountain Folk Club. The mention of Cow Town in the article is a reference to the city of Calgary. If you knew that, my apologies. Anyway, that's a start. Good luck. |

Subject: RE: Canadian musician Dick Howe From: Jon Bartlett Date: 13 Feb 21 - 02:24 PM I first met Dick at Expo 74 in Spokane where I was a host at the Folklife Festival. He played concertina, and lived I think in Calgary. He was one of the founders of the Rocky Mountain Folk Club. You'll find his obituary if you search "Dick Howe Calgary". Tim Rogers of Calgary will know much more about him. Jon Bartlett |
