Subject: Obit: Di Henderson (Craddock) From: GUEST,Jim Bainbridge Date: 23 Dec 24 - 09:30 AM This is an unusual form of obit, I'm afraid, but I've only just learned from people I trust that news of Di's demise is sadly true. I heard nothing of any final arrangements, and I'm not sure why no-one has posted on mudcat, nor anywhere else I can find, so I'd like to add a few words of appreciation. Di was a regular at the Marsden Inn, South Shields in the 1960s and developed into a fine unaccompanied and powerful singer, with repertoire particularly from her native Tyneside, but also from the Scottish tradition- she was often seen at Scottish festivals, whether booked or not. In later years, she moved to Redcar on Teesside, but had not been well for some years but her loss is a serious one for her many friends & admirers - that's all I know except to say RIP Di bonny lass |

Subject: RE: 2024 Obit: Di Henderson (Craddock) From: Dave Sutherland Date: 24 Dec 24 - 04:45 PM There was an obituary on Facebook started by Ed Pickford and followed by several tributes in late November. Her funeral was 10th December if I remember correctly. Di and I started out around the same time as regulars at The Royal Turf, Felling. She developed into a fine singer. |
Subject: RE: 2024 Obit: Di Henderson (Craddock) From: Tattie Bogle Date: 24 Dec 24 - 07:16 PM I also saw the Facebook posts, which is perhaps the more common way these days for word to get around. Not knowing her quite as well as some others, I wouldn’t have taken it upon myself to start an obit thread here. But Idid meet her at a number of festivals, only in recent years, including Whitby and Stonehaven, and loved her singing and sense of humour. |
