Subject: Mick Stuart - Thankyou My Friends From: GUEST,Andrew Briggs Date: 27 Jan 25 - 04:25 PM Hi there, I was just wondering if anyone from the Midlands area would happen to have an old copy of the cassette 'Thankyou My Friends' that Mick Stuart produced before he moved away from the area around 1986? There's a few tracks on there which are some of my favourite songs written and played and I'd love to try and get it professionally digitized somehow so I can continue to listen to it for the rest of life. My Dad had a cassette of it at one point t but it has disappeared from the face of the earth it seems. If anyone does, would they be able to email me on 'briggfoot AT hotmail.com Obviously replacing the 'AT' with a @ Many thanks Andy Briggs |

Mick moved away from Coventry for a few years to live near family in Devon, then returned and ran his own club here for several years. He left again around three years ago although the club (Styvechale Folk Club) is still run by former regulars. It's a shame he never made a bigger name for himself. But he did record a few cassettes with the help of local fans and home studios." (Photo shows Mick Stuart Swain outside Gretna Street Coventry May 1967 Photo by Paul Kennelly). "Mick Stuart is another friend of mine from the Tuesday Coventry folk night at the Freemasons Tavern in Harnal Lane, where Jan Budd used to run it. It was a great night out there with the Marston Pedergre. Martin Jenkins played every week there with a band.... Roddy Felton was always there holding the bar up. On a Thursday it was the Coventry Blues Club, which i ran for about three years. I played with The Traveling Riverside Blues Band there lots of times, and we use to pack the place out, and so did The DT's plus a few blues solo artists like Mick Stuart.......... They were great times........Mojo. " https://coventryfolkclubs.blogspot.com/2011/07/mick-stuart-coventry-acoustic-blues.html |

I think I need to try and track down the friends who helped him record the albums on to cassettes back in the day. Perhaps it wad Graham Bradshaw from Roots Records. The album is unbelievably good I hope I can find it and allow others to listen to it too. Regards Andrew Briggs |
