Just heard on the BBC news: Bill Oddie's died, at age 87. I remember him for the Sittingbourne Folk and Madrigal Society sections of I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again, of which one of the early entries was (if memory serves) The Gibbon-Stuffing Song:

Famous for Funky Gibbon and ( I believe) for the splendid Throwing Up Blues; "I threw up in the kitchen; I threw up in the loo; and if you'd been there,baby, I'd have thrown up over you".

A person much troubled in life. I hope he realised just how many of us respected his work in all the many spheres he opertated in.

Yeah, maximum respect from me for Bill, a genuinely multi-talented guy.
The old ISIRTA LP sleeve note proclaimed the comedian to be "a jazz lover and a genuine ornithologist", but Bill was so much more.
A fabulous musical mimic, vocally and creatively, whose inventive parodies and original songs were key to the success of ISIRTA. His rocked-out treatment of On Ilkla Moor Baht 'at (which John Peel released on his Dandelion label) was priceless.
For the record MaJoC The Filk, Stuff That Gibbon first made an appearance in episode 6 of the 1970 series of ISIRTA, some years before the unforgettable Funky Gibbon graced the pop charts.
Let's not forget the major focus of his post-Goodies career, as a knowledgeable and highly respected wildlife presenter, author, birding enthusiast and conservationist.
We'll miss you, Bill.

Joe, would it be possible to start a thread for Bill's song lyrics?

Talking of which, I once tried to transcribe the lyrics to Harry Krishna but failed on three or four lines / names / words that I still can't quite make out... Does anyone out there have the complete text? (Harryeally would like to get it right!)
