Watched a thing on the history channel which mentioned William the 9th as being the "first" troubadour. Just was wondering who among us might know a bit more about him and wouldn't mind sharing it, including any songs known to have come from him. I understand some of them were quite bawdy.

Probably of Orange, at a guess -- but I am sure he wasn't the first busker, even if he was the first official sanitized-version troubadour. The ones with the lacy ruffles and all...

Very kewl, MMario! Thanks! Now, I can tell you the name of theprogram which mentioned him: The History Channel's "History of Sex". Quite an interesting program. Tonight's episode will be on practises of the Middle East.
