Help! There is a song my roomate in college used to sing all the time. It is by a male folk singer whose name escapse me. The lyrics go: "Why does the butterfly fly? Oh why, oh why do people cry? Why does the wind blow so high? Cause that's the way things are." I could never remember the artist or title, and it's really bugging me, especially now when I have this wonderful internet to help me....except everywhere you go you need a title! Well I *have* the lyrics! Please, does anyone know?

I've heard this song. I think it may be by Tom Paxton.

Refresh. This is really bugging me now. There haven't been that many songwriters who could write a protest song against accepting the status quo, and make it sound like a children's song!

Hey Guys, thanks. Yeah, I've been thinking it was Tom Paxton too, but I've been looking and can't find that one yet. My roomate had it on an album...must have been '68 or '69, 'cause we were in school in '70. Anyone know where to find a complete discography?
