Could any of you fine folks out there help on this one. The first line as far as I know is

If I had the wings of a gull my dear.

Cheers

Sledge

There's a version in the database under the title "Wings of a gull", with a little background. Click here

Hello, I've been looking for the full lyric to this beautiful song for years. I funally found a great sung version by Ian Giles on the CD Sea Shanties - rousing songs from the age of sail - and here's the link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sea-Shanties-Various-Artists/dp/B000EGD1P6/ref=sr_1_20/202-9566014-6696667?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1173139635&sr=1-20

takes some careful listening and quick note-taking, but hope this helps!

Martin John Nicholls (of the Exmouth Shantymen)

G'day Martin,

just how does it vary from the version in the D(igital) T(radition) - linked above (6½ years ago) by Martin Ryan?

Perhaps you cound start by grabbing the words from the DT ... and amending all differences ... then we would have another interesting version to play with!

Regards,

Bob

Martin - You might also want to listen to the close harmony version done on A.L.LLoyd's "Leviathan."
