Subject: Roaring water bay From: GUEST,KingBrilliant Date: 18 Sep 00 - 06:02 AM I'm trying to get the words & chords to this lovely song, a cover of which was done by Show Of Hands. There are a few bits I'm not sure of, so I'd appreciate any corrections... Also, if anyone could let me know the chords I'd be really grateful. I've not been able to find it on any of the song archive sites, but hopefully someone here can help me. Here's where I got to with the lyrics so far: Singing God bless America From barefoot hill Rain and tears were her only tunes Singing the saddest of farewells Now she smiles through the soft days Bug the hard days still remain When she thinks of those that never will return To their Irish homes again 30 years worth of letters home From New York state Photographs from another world Causes? To cheer the lonely heart How she wished she could see them all On the streets of skidber-reed?? But she knows the brothers never will return To the roaring water bay On the bay On the roaring water bay All of the blood and Irish ways Singing God bless America Then the young men came Irish hearts with their Yankee words Dancing to Dublin in the rain Heading south of the West Coast road As they searched to find their names For it's a long long way from New York?? Down to cork And the roaring water bay On the bay On the roaring water bay All of the blood and Irish ways. Singing god bless America Cheers Kris |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Roaring water bay From: MartinRyan Date: 18 Sep 00 - 07:03 AM That'll be "Skibbereen" and "Roaringwater Bay" - which is a lovely inlet on the coast of West Cork. Many's the time I taught sailing there for a few summer weeks. Regards |

Now she smiles through the soft days, but the hard days still remain, As she thinks of those who never will return to the Roaring Water Bay. Thirty years' worth of letters home from New York state, Photographs from across the world, causes to cheer the lonely heart. On the bay, On the Roaring Water Bay, Born of the blood And Irish ways. Singing "God Bless America" the young men came, Irish hearts with their Yankee words dancing in Dublin in the rain, Heading south on the West Coast Road as they search to find their names.
