Delivered to all the homes in my area is a freebie magazine called Reflections. This month's had an article about Richard Arkwright (b1755), son of Sir Richard, of cotton-spinning fame. In 1787, so the article relates, he bought the site of Cressbrook Mill (after it had been destroyed by fire) and re-employed William Newton (the Minstrel of the Peak) to rebuild the Mill. Does anyone know of this William Newton, Minstrel of the Peak?

Thanks, MMario. How is your "me" link connected to you?

I was going to ask if the Anna Seward who dubbed him the Minstrel was the author of Black Beauty, but I think she was Sewell. Do you know who AS was & why she dubbed him TMotP?
