Who remembers Pete Bond? I believe he wrote a song called "Act of God" which was recorded in 1978 (I think). Does anyone know the words please?

The favoured children gathered flowers.

The righteous quote prophetic lines
To prove their blessed pride of place.
And for the poor a prayer is said:

Then exorcise the echoes of the dead.
We too were acts of God.

The last line of each verse is repeated. Great song indeed.
The monument to the children, from which Peter gained his inspiration, still stands in Silkstone churchyard.

Sorry Unicorn, the lines have come out as a continous sentence. If you cannot figure out the line breaks let me know. I've also refrehed a previous threads thats been running in the last few days

Thanks Raggytash - I think I'll be able to work out where to take a breath!!! And thanks to Sorcha too - I'd forgotten about that earlier thread - it makes good reading. Thanks again.
