Jim - I can't help directly but it might be worth contacting Strawhead. Garstang Morris comprised members of Strawhead, Alan Bond and other luminaries of the English folk scene, were revived for the 1992 Preston Guilds, for which the Lamb and Flag show was also composed and (in the Strawhead contingent) included Gregg Butler who sings Nell Flaherty's Drake on which another thread is currently running.... but Gregg has done loads of research on local songs. If no-one local (I'm from south of Watford) chips in, PM me and I'll send you contact details.

Kitty

Be interested to know of that, since I started out from that area (Lytham). Oddly, there don't seem to be too many songs about the Fylde and Bowland area.

Graham.

I wrote a song called "Rhubarb City" about Galgate for a theatre show that never got produced, and I cannot for the life of me remember a word of it, except possibly "It must be three feet long and as thick as your arm, A nice bite of that wouldn't do any harm" which was part of the chorus. The rest was in similar vein. The script contained a lot of Lancashire humour. or at least the couple of scenes Iwas sent did.

Greg can be emailed at

Have checked local sources without luck - why not put a request out on the Fylde folk Web Site Guest Book?

Good luck - we're always on the look out for Lanky songs especially songs from the Fylde area.
