Subject: Tech: Instrument Kits for 400 kids From: GUEST,Gloucesterman Date: 25 Nov 02 - 05:44 PM This may be a bit odd but I have been asked to help 400 children (with adult help of course) build wind instruments within about an hours time. They will purchase all the materials needed. Does anyone have some creative yet simple ideas? I'm casting about here and hoping for something special. Thanks for any serious responses. David. |

Subject: RE: Tech: Instrument Kits for 400 kids From: Tinker Date: 25 Nov 02 - 07:34 PM The most fun we've come home with was a Shofar project from Hebrew nursey school. A two foot length of hose was looped and secured with electrical tape ( in multiple colors) then a funnel was secured in one end and a kazoo in the other. I'm pretty sure they hung ribbons on the loop as well... It makes for a very loud kazoo band. You can also use the cut off ends of two liter bottles instead of funnels ( cover the cut ends with more tape cause they have sharp edges). If you want real musicality you are out of my league, but these were fun. Tinker |
Subject: RE: Tech: Instrument Kits for 400 kids From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 25 Nov 02 - 07:38 PM Bardford, that is a totally awesome web page! I give my 5th graders a "graduation requirement" to invent a real, durable musical instrument and this page is a gold mine! David, I was going to suggest something with pvc pipe- pan pipes or something, but I think I'm going to explore Bardford's link before I open my mouth. |
