Hello Folks,

On Saturday 22 April, in the downstairs bar at the Cumberland Arms, Byker,(Newcastle upon Tyne) we're having a Skiffle Party to celebrate Lonnie Donegan's 75th birthday (a week early), and the 50th anniversary (approximately)of Rock Island Line hitting the charts.

It'll be hosted by Midnite Special, but everyone's invited to bring along guitars, washboards, voices etc and join in the fun from 7.30 pm onwards. Any Mudcatters who enjoy skiffle and live within range of Tyneside will be very welcome to drop in.

Wassail!

Mike

Mike:
Alas I am playing elsewhere with the Boat Band, but have a wonderful party. 50 glorious years since "Rock Island Line", definitely worth celebrating. Lonnie and Beryl Bryden are sadly no longer with us. Chris Barber, on the other hand, who played bass on that most influential record, is still going strong. (I think, God willing).

A bit far from Ascot for the Washboard of Mass Destruction and the Voice that Music Forgot!

Have a good one.
