On the odd chance we might find some clues, I rechecked... aged like milk. Just now I get one Sea Shanty wiki (the Quid); one fifer; one AI generated cartoon fiddler complete with tri-corner hat &c and four pages of AI Fiddler on the Roof slop. Oh well.

Anywho, "fiddle" is a mighty flexible word, especially from one century and/or country to the next. Some of the traveling "kit" variety can be the musical equivalent of a dug out canoe or a shillelagh with strings.
