No, no, no. My Girl Bill was by Jim Stafford, who also sang Spiders and Snakes. Both were off the album Spiders and Snakes, but there was another album, called Not Just Another Pretty Foot. (Am I starting to sound nerdy yet?)

While my schoolmates were listening to Pink Floyd and Genesis, I'd put some Jim Stafford on the sixth-form record player to universally blank looks. It wouldn't stay on for long.

I always thought he was a country-ish singer with a bit of humour. But it turns out he regards himself as a comedian first, who still does a family show at his own auditorium. You can google him.

My Girl Bill - it's another of those songs which have rattled round inside my head for 30 years. I'll post the words, if you're interested.

I've just checked the related thread at the top of this page, and I see you asked the same question in February last year - and got the lyrics and Jim Stafford's name from Peace.

Still. I enjoyed remembering it!
