I am sure that many of you are familiar with the commercial jingle for Chock Full Of Nuts coffee.

Chock Full Of Nuts is the heavenly coffee
Heavenly coffee, heavenly coffee
Chock Full Of Nuts is the heavenly coffee
Better coffee a millionaire's money can't buy

Years ago, the last line used to be sung
"Better coffee Rockefeller's money can't buy"

My question is: Why did they change these lyrics in the last line? Did the Rockefeller family threaten to sue Chock Full Of Nuts for using the family name without license? Is anyone familiar with the circumstances of this commercial as to why the change was made?

I seem to recall that the name was removed and the jingle was changed due to legal action on a part of the family. Does anyone remember?

In the early 1940s and 1950s there were other songs written with Rockefeller's name.

In "The Sunny Side Of The Street" one line said "I'd be rich as Rockefeller"

In Irving Berlin's "Let's Have Another Cup Of Coffee" one line said, "Even John D. Rockefeller is looking for that silver lining".

Did those composers have to pay royalties to the Rockefeller family or did they face legal action?

Was Chock Full Of Nuts different because it was a commercial enteprise?

This company history said the line was changed "In response to requests from the Rockefeller family," but other sources claim the Rockefellers sued.
This Google Search will lead you to a number of sources, none of which appears to be authoritative. My guess is that the coffee company would have been "Nuts" to deny a Rockefeller request, and there would have been no need for a lawsuit.

After listening to the jingle on the company website that Joe Offer provided, I notice that the last line has again been changed. It now says:

"Better coffee a BILLIONAIRE'S money can't buy.

That is a sure sign that inflation is with us and has gone through the roof. Ben Bernanke and the Fed is sure to take notice.
