Flossie Malavialle fans may be interested to know that I have just posted a two-part interview with her, conducted electronically because we are several thousands of miles apart (and Skype seems to be discouraged where I am in the UAE), at Salut! Live
She also had a few things to say about Brit drinking and chav cultures, but they didn't really fit in the music interview so went on another blog

Any unspotted typos can be blamed on burning the candle at both ends, all the way down the middle and wherever the wax flows

What was the expression...'so much for the French - English divide' I don't suppose their would be one for an attractive Frenchwoman in England...not with the men anyway! Love watching Flossie at her gigs when she appears locally. She talks a lot about our strange ways and customs..and silly expressions we use like 'It blew my socks off' etc
Best wishes to her wherever she is and whatever she is doing...as they would say in a certain part of the country..She's a lovely lass

And, as Flossie points out, why do we only bless cotton socks.....?

Colin,

The video clip of Flossie singing La vie en rose is great - thanks for posting it. Good interveiw too. Last year Flossie played at our folk club in Deal and it was a sellout. She drove all the way from Darlington, got stuck in traffic on the M25, arrived just before she was due on and put on a great performance. Only afterwards did she tell me that she'd done the entire gig with a splitting headache - we would never had known from her performance! What a true professional and what a great voice. Hope we can book her again this year.

Georgiansilver: my wife, also French, has already said she suspects me of plotting to replace her with Flossie. Nonsense of course (and I have a feeling FM would want to be consulted in any case)

Arnie: having only seen the video clips, I envy anyone who has caught her live. I don't suppose she's due in Abu Dhabi any time soon though

And does anyone know of a suitable French music site to which it might be worth sending a link?
