I suggest you bring your own cushions as the seats are a bit bum-numbing after a while!

I would love to, but a very busy next 7 days means it's a no-no.

Have a good sing!

John

Hi Bert,

I attended the Spring Sing, Halifax last night where John Kirkpatrick was the main guest.

One of the urban legends concerning John was that as a youngster he had been sent off to bed early by his parents for sing the "Long Pegging Awl"/"Bonny Black Hare" in public.

I asked him to clarify the point and was surprised to hear that the song was in fact "With my cattle smock on", and he proceeded to sing the first 3 verses.

Having scanned the DT, Google, and a few other sources the only trace of it I encountered was your reference to it in a previous thread regarding "Tarry Trousers".

Could you send the full text of the lyrics, or better still post them on the DT perhaps?

Thanx, in anticipation.

Bob vG
