Subject: Wish I knew what I was doin' !!!!!!! From: Sarah-HS Date: 20 Nov 99 - 11:11 AM By some stroke of luck, I was able to get the words to a song through this great message board ... however, I'm flyin' by the seat of my pants - sorta "farblonjet". If I want to search for a song, but I don't know the title, only a few words in the text, I want to know how to search that way. Example: If I wanted the words to WABASH CANNONBALL (but didn't know the song title) and only knew that it contained a phrase "listen to the jingle, the rumble and the roar" ... how would I conduct the search??? |
Subject: RE: Help: Wish I knew what I was doin' !!!!!!! From: katlaughing Date: 20 Nov 99 - 11:29 AM Hi, Sarah. Welcome to the Mudcat! You've done the right thing by starting a thread asking. You can go to the top righthand corner of the page and type in a few of the key words or a phrase that you know in teh DigiTrad search box and hit search. If you want to do a broad search just type in one of the words, such as "jingle" from your example, or a specific subject word, such as "train". If that doesn't get you any results, start a thread with specifics in the title: a name, or words you might know, then in the actual thread post as much information as you have to help us out in finding what you want. You might be able to do the same for someone in another thread who is looking for something you know. When you do post a thread, there are designators you may choose to put in front of the title, such as Add Lyrics, Request Lyrics, etc. You will see that when you go to name a thread you are starting. Is this all as clear as mud? Well, remember our motto: "Mud is thicker than water" and join in the fun! katlaughing

Subject: RE: Help: Wish I knew what I was doin' !!!!!!! From: WyoWoman Date: 20 Nov 99 - 11:20 PM Hi, Sarah, Welcome to the wacky world of the 'Cat. You'll learn the seach engines in a snap. The general insanity around here may take a while longer. But it'll get to be a part of you in no time. (This may be a vastly mixed blessing...) At any rate, good to see you here and just have fun playing. Check out the photo album on BBC's Mudcat Resources to see what a handsome bunch of old farts we are. Send us your photo if you have the desire. Best regards, WyoWoman |
Subject: RE: Help: Wish I knew what I was doin' !!!!!!! From: Áine Date: 21 Nov 99 - 10:02 PM Welcome, welcome, Sarah! I think you'll have fun us here at the 'Cat, considering we're such 'a handsome bunch of old farts' (hahaha). If you can access it, don't forget to listen in on Wednesday nights to the Mudcat Radio -- it's a hoot! WW - I really don't think I've achieved the honored status of 'old fart' quite yet -- check out my new pics on the Mudcat Resource photo page -- I think I'm more like 'a fart of a certain age' . . . LOL (Sarah, that means 'lots of laughter'). -- Áine |
