This is about a venue that closed a long time ago.
When the Music Inn was hosting performers in Lenox,
in the mid-20th century and forward,
it was a leading venue for non-classical music performers.
In the same town as the Tanglewood festival,
and at that point Tanglewood had no popular music concerts
as it has today.

Popular performers of every stripe performed there,
including some of the '50s-'60s singers
whose repertoire included traditional music.
Lately, Berkshire Magazine, a local publication,
has been reminiscing about the Music Inn back in the day.

Is there anyone here who knew of the Music Inn?

The Music Inn location played a surprising role, in the 1950's,
in the development of jazz music.
A new book has come out about the subject.

The Jazz Barn: Music Inn, the Berkshires, and the Place of Jazz in American Life
