I have just received confirmation of the passing of Roy Blackman of Rotherham ~ a genius memory man won money in the day on Hughie Green show on sporting events and people must have been in 1970s

He latterly wrote brilliant songs, and showed his skills and ability

Oh no, how sad.

Roy was a unique talent: a brilliant writer of songs in his own special corner of the tradition, and a born communicator, as well as a true gentleman.

I'd been worried as to his health and whereabouts in these post-Covid days and all my enquiries had drawn a blank. Does anyone have more details?

He was 90 years old, lived in a care home ~funeral Friday David

I was sorry to hear that Roy had passed away. I send my condolences to all those who know and love him and have entered his name in the "In Memoriam" thread. There is a nice piece written about his songwriting on the web. RIP Roy

I am sorry to hear of Roy's death. Only met him once or twice, but he was a real character!
I second there request fore a link to the article Pete mentioned (I've looked for but not found it).

What I did find was his CD on ReverbNation and his obituary notice.

Also a FATEA review of his CD by Morley Man.
