I guess we've never had a thread on this song, although it has been posted many times in various other threads. Here are the lyrics in the Digital Tradition:
FINLANDIA
(Words, Lloys Stone; Music Jean Sibelius)

This is my song, O God of all the nations
A song of peace, for lands afar & mine
This is my home, the country where my heart is
Heare are my hopes, my dreams, my holy shrine
But other hearts in other lands are beating
With hopes and dreams as true and high as mine

My country's skies are bluer than the ocean
And sunlight beams on clover leaf and pine
But other lands have sunlight too, and clover
And skies are everywhere as blue as mine
O hear my song, thou God of all the nations
A song of peace for their land and for mine

performed by the Indigo Girls on their first self-titled EP.

I'm what they call a "liberal Catholic. I generally feel comfortable in the company of agnostics and uncomfortable with Falwell Christians. Those who call themselves atheists seem to be a bit closer to the Falwell people - there's a level of intolerance that makes me very uneasy. We sang Song of Peace (Finlandia) in church on Sunday, and I can't think of a better view of patriotism.
I realize a person who doesn't believe in God, might not be able to sing these lyrics comfortably. I sincerely hope, however, that they might be able to feel good to hear me sing them.

This is my song, O God of all the nations
A song of peace, for lands afar & mine
In another thread, Gargoyle posted a more inclusive version, and I like it very much. Gargoyle says it's from a Bill Staines recording.

Fred Small has a song by the title "peace is"

However, this is the only song of "Peace" that I show for Bill Staines.

SONG OF PEACE (FINLANDIA)
(Jean Sibelius, music - Lloyd Stone, words)
© 1934, Lorenz Publishing Co.

This is my song, oh people of all nations,
A song of peace for lands afar and mine.
This is my home, my country where my heart is,
Here are my hopes, my dreams, my truest shrine,
But other hearts in other lands are beating,
With hopes and dreams as high and true as mine

My country's skies are bluer than the ocean,
And sunlight falls on clover leaf and pine.
But the other lands have sunlight too, and clover,
And skies are everywhere as blue as mine.
So Hear this song you people of all nations,
This song of peace for other lands and mine.
This song of peace for other lands and mine.

A friend of mine from Sacramento, James Robinson, sent me this version with a very nice third verse:

A Song of Peace

This is my song, Oh God of all the nations,
A song of peace for lands afar and mine.
This is my home, the country where my heart is;
Here are my hopes, my dreams, my holy shrine.
But other hearts in other lands are beating.
With hopes and dreams as true and high as mine.

My country’s skies are bluer than the ocean,
And sunlight beams on cloverleaf and pine.
But other lands have sunlight too and clover,
And skies are everywhere as blue as mine.
O hear my song, Oh God of all the nations,
A song of peace for their land and for mine.

May truth and freedom come to every nation
May peace abound where strife has raged so long
That each may seek to love and build together
A world united, righting every wrong.
A world united in its love for freedom,
Proclaiming peace, together in one song

These stanzas, published during the period between the two world wars, express a hope for lasting peace among all nations, races, and cultures. Finlandia is derived from a “tone poem” of the same name by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius.

I sing in one of Lester Simpson's community choirs.
We sing 'Spirit' rather than 'God' and have a different extra verse.
Could well be by Lester; I'll have to ask about the source at the next rehearsal.
:

This is my song, O Spirit of all nations,
a song of peace for lands afar and mine;
this is my home, the country where my heart is;
here are my hopes, my dreams, my holy shrine:
but other hearts in other lands are beating
with hopes and dreams as true and high as mine.

My country's skies are bluer than the ocean,
and sunlight beams on cloverleaf and pine;
but other lands have sunlight too, and clover,
and skies are everywhere as blue as mine:
O hear my song, thou Spirit of all nations,
a song of peace for their land and for mine.

We would be one as now we join in singing
a hymn of love to pledge ourselves anew
to that high cause of greater understanding
of who we are and what in us is true
we would be one in living for each other
to show to all a new humanity

This is my song, O Spirit of all nations,
a song of peace for lands afar and mine;
this is my home, the country where my heart is;
here are my hopes, my dreams, my holy shrine:
O hear my song, thou Spirit of all nations,
a song of peace for their land and for mine.

And another verse which in fact we don't sing

We would be one in building for tomorrow
A nobler world than we have known today.
We would be one in searching for that meaning
Which binds our hearts and points us on our way.
As one, we pledge ourselves to greater service,
With love and justice, strive to make us free

Perhaps some might be interested to know that there are Welsh words to this wonderful tune. https://thecuriousastronomer.wordpress.com/2015/07/31/dros-gymrun-gwlad-dafydd-iwan-song/
The words by Lewis Valentine are very religious, and I am not. But, even for me, the English translation doesn't give much idea of the power of the Welsh words, or their significance for many Welsh people. It was sung impromptu when the recent election of Rhun ap Iorwerth as First Minister of Wales was announced. More personally, at my mother's request we sang it at her funeral.

Wikipedia has an English-language entry for the 'Finlandia Hymn' derived from Sibelius's music:
Finlandia hymn

The Finnish entry is more comprehensive, and mentions several hymns and songs using the same tune:
Finlandia-hymni
