I expect everyone is familiar with Harry's fine rendition of the shanty 'Blow the Man Down' from the collection of sea songs and shanty's 'Farewell Nancy ' but does anyone know of anymore recordings by Harry H. Corbett. Regards Dave

It's now on the Topic CD with the same title as the song. I seem to remember it first appeared on a Topic EP in the late 60's but the other titles were by others; I may be wrong. Dr John

I dont know about him singing sea shantys but he had his hand stuck up sootys bum for years......!

Sooty, for those American mudcatters out there, was a little yellow bear puppet who appeared for children in UK from the 1960's onwards...

What a lot of crossed lines!!!!!
Harry Corbett was Sooty's creator, Harry H Corbett was the star of "Steptoe and Son"
Did you get to see that in America? Did you understand it? I don't suppose there were many rag and bone men in the USA. Bron.

In the US "Steptoe and Son" was rewritten as "Sanford & Son" with Redd Foxx in the Wilfred Bramble role. Can't remember who played the son.
