Subject: Whiskey in the tay From: GUEST Date: 09 Oct 00 - 05:15 AM I am looking for an Irish song that I know very little about. These are the lyrics I do know: They'll be dancing...........romancing.... ........................... whiskey in the tea (tay) I know it is very vague. If anyone can help I would appreciate it. |
Subject: Lyr Add: WHISKEY IN MY TAY From: Quincy Date: 09 Oct 00 - 05:51 AM Hi "Guest", I've posted the following lyrics of a song literally called "Whiskey in my Tay" but there's no mention of dancing or romancing so it's probably not the one you want!! At least we can narrow down the search!! best wishes, Yvonne WHISKEY IN MY TAY (air: 'Mick Maguire')
I was a bold tea-totaller for three long years or more
So all you bred tea-totallers, if sober you may be

Subject: RE: Help: Whiskey in the tay From: Sorcha Date: 09 Oct 00 - 10:22 AM The title is "When the Boys Come Rolling Home". Written by Tommy Sands and recorded by gobs of people. Couldn't find the lyrics on-line, but I have it on cassette. If nobody else has them, I will try to transcribe, but getting lyrics from a cassette is a booger of a job. |
Subject: Lyr Add: WHEN THE BOYS COME ROLLING HOME (T Sands) From: Seamus Kennedy Date: 09 Oct 00 - 10:26 AM WHEN THE BOYS COME ROLLING HOME (Tommy Sands)
I always will remember well the day we went away,
Chorus:
We safely reached the other side in New York City fair;
Now Joe he went to Boston, and Sam to Buffalo,
I must be over 90 now, my grandson's by my bed;
All the best |

Subject: When The Boys Come Rollin' Home! From: Clinton Hammond2 Date: 09 Oct 00 - 11:38 AM Or the way I hear the last line.... "And I leave him a legacy of -Dreaming-"
Sorta sticks with the theme of leaving and wanting to go back but never making it...
I love this song, and I use it as the 3rd in a marathon of emmigration songs... Starting with Fields Of Athen Rye, nice a mellow the way it should be, into The Outside Track at about Garnet Rogers live tempo and ending with When The Boys COme Rolling Home at a killer pace! It's great fun! {~` |
