Given the eclectic musical taste on this forum, I'm sure many of you will be just as delighted as I am with an astonishing CD I have just encountered: "Yodeling the Classics," by Mary Schneider, "Australia's Queen of Yodeling," featuring selectiond from Brahms, Mozart, Strauss, Bizet and more, and including such well-known favorites as "The William Tel Overture" and "Brahms' Lullaby." "Astonishing" is a good word for it, Melani, my goodness! I like some yodeling, but this woman really takes it to new...um...heights, um... depending on your perspective. I would not have believed it without hearing it. Thanks!

Mary Schneider's yodelling and some footage of what looked like a full operatic cast on ice skates was used as a station id for ABC-tv (Australia's national broadcaster, government owned).

I don't know the one she sang for that - I recognised the tune, but couldn't put a name to it.

Brilliant! It would stop me dead in my tracks to watch it, every time it came on.

If you go to the site Kat linked to, click on "Customers also bought...these albums." Some of them look pretty interesting! ("Songs in the Key of Z: The Curious Universe of Outsider Music," "Hey Lucille, Are You a Lesbian" and "Delerium in Hi-Fi" among them.)

Delirium in hi-fi, yeah! A friend of mine has had that LP since he was a kid. A monument to high camp, and this yodeling CD is a scream! :-)
