Subject: RE: If you like Run C&W... From: Whistleworks Date: 18 Jul 01 - 03:16 PM Excellent. And, if you are LUCKY to find it on vinyl, "Beatle Country" by the Charles River Valley Boys, a fine bluegrass group that lives in the hills of Boston. Bob Pegritz |

Blown to the far winds many years agone. They were active in the early to mid- sixties. I was in law school in Boston in the mid-sixties, and spent a great many more evenings than I ought to have in the Club 47 listening to them. Still do a number of songs I learned from them (not Beatles, tho') I hear that Beatle Country is recently out on CD. Not sure what label. Peter. |
Subject: RE: If you like Run C&W... From: Stewie Date: 18 Jul 01 - 08:03 PM On the subject of Run C & W, the Australian label Raven has just issued a 23-track compilation from Russell Smith's 3 solo outings - 'The Boy Next Door', 'Russell Smith' and 'This Little Town'. Only 'This Little Town' made it to CD, and then only for a brief time. I believe this compilation has also been released in the US. There are some beaut songs reclaimed such as 'Jenny Hold On', 'Sunday Best', 'Blue Collar Blues'. I am a bit pissed off that 'Our Lady of the Blues' from self-titled album is not included. Russell Smith 'Sunday Best: The Cream of the Solo Albums' Raven RVCD-118. --Stewie. |
