For those that are interested in Irish traditional singing, there is a discussion list at Yahoo. I think it could use some new blood. A little sparse on messages lately. If interested, go to:

This thread dropped off the page rather quickly without comment, so I'm refreshing for those who may not have seen it. I would like to be able to discuss Irish Traditional Singing with other Mudcatters who have the same interest over in the Yahoo groups list. The archives at Mudcat are a great database for information, but the yahoo list would be a good place to be able to focus directly on the topic, even using the Mudcat/DT as one source for searching lyrics and info. I found the Traditional Irish Singing email group because it is linked to the Nenagh Singers Circle web site.

Hi Alice,

I agree it would be great if there was a discussion forum exclusively devoted to traditional Irish singing. Has this yahoo group been advertised anywhere besides your post about it here? Can you tell us anything more about who formed it, when it started, what the mission of the group is, that sort of thing.

Also, have notices been regularly posted to rec.music.celtic, uk.music.folk, rec.music.folk, the Irtrad mailing list, the Scottish Music and Culture mailing list, the Cape Breton list, etc. to see if there are others interested in joining? Also, the Gaelic-L listserv is a great place to advertise/announce too.

Just a thought, as it seems the group seems to be suffering from not enough traffic being directed to it from the right places.

The discussion list was founded by the Sligo Traditional Singing Club
"in order to allow devotees of Traditional Irish (or Sean Nós) Singing, express their views and share information."
