Subject: (Nearly) New Singing Sesh - Glasgow From: Scabby Douglas Date: 24 Apr 06 - 05:21 AM We had great fun in Café Source at Saint Andrews In The Square for several years. We sang songs, swapped songs, learned songs, sang and played along and made friends. We heard and played music in a range from bothy ballads through to an acoustic version of "Ace of Spades". But like most things, sessions and singarounds have an allotted span, and the Cafe Source singaround has regrettably come to an end. Which is sad. However... There is a new singing session on Wednesday evenings at Morrison's Bar 220 Clyde Street, Glasgow. The Lounge bar is comfortable and snug, and that's where we will be from 8:30 pm until 11 pm, every week. There is no charge for admission. Come along and give us a song. |

I haven't been able to get to any of them for ages as I'm up in Aberdeen working during the week, but I know a few people on the lookout for a session, so will pass on details as I'd waited knowing Saints was coming to an end. Once this work is over I'll get along again, more of a threat than promise I reckon.. You heading to Girvan at the weekend? Andy |
Subject: RE: (Nearly) New Singing Sesh - Glasgow From: GUEST,scabby douglas Date: 24 Apr 06 - 11:43 AM Hello Andy. It's just round from the Riverside, yes... one door in the side street, and the other on Clyde Street itself. This place will work really well for people who want to sing without a band behind them, or do quieter bits and pieces. It's cosy even with just half a dozen people in. We have the lounge to ourselves in the sense that it's currently sitting empty on a Wednesday, and have cleared it with the management, they even offered to put up a sign for us indicating that it was booked. That's the last thing we want - anyone is welcome, although it's primarily a "singing session". The way we interpret that is that it's singaround format but people can, and will, join in on on acccompaniment - if it's acceptable to the singer, and if not, then it's voice only... it's about the song and the singing... And yes... I will be in Girvan on Saturday. I did a toss-up between going to Moniaive the week after, and going to Girvan, and Girvan won (or possibly lost, depending on how you look at it) |
