Here's
The Alabama Jubilee
(Jack Jellen & George Cobb)

You ought to see Deacon Jones when he rattles his bones
Old Parson Brown dancing 'round like a clown
Old Aunt Jemima, she's past ninety-three
Shouting out full of pep
Watch your step, watch your step
One legged Joe spins around on his toe
Throws away his crutch and hollers
Look at her go
Oh, honey hail, hail, the gang's all here
At the Alabama Jubilee
I found these lyrics via Yahoo, I also have a record by Leon Redbone with slightly different words.

We had a discussion of Down Yonder (click here) in a previous thread. Gene Graham provided what he said were the lyrics, but I contend he's wrong - everybody knows the lyrics are
Down Yonder, da-da da-da-da-dah
Down Yonder, da-da da-da-da-dah
(repeat)
I always get "Down Yonder" and "Alabama Jubilee" mixed up - are they the same tune, or similar to each other, or am I talking through my hat again?

The tune for Down yonder is different.

I only know the first two lines:

Down yonder someone reckons to me Down yonder someone beckons to me (Da-da-da-da?)

Here's the verses I learned to Down Yonder (which is a different tune from Alabama Jubilee)

Down yonder someone beckons to me
Down yonder someone reckons on me
I seem to see a race in my memory
between the boats the Nachez and the Robert E. Lee
Oh my Swanee shore, I miss you more and more
Everyday mammy land, you are simply grand
Down yonder when the folks get the news
Down yonder at the hullabaloo
There's Effram and Sammy, Pappy and mammy,
Waitin' down yonder for me.

Thanks so much for the lyrics. How did you find them on Yahoo? I tried Lyrics.com and a couple other links that I don't recall at the moment.

Somedays it seems like they are the same songs. It is even worse that I've been trying to learn them at the same time. I thought if I had the words in my head I could keep the melodies straight. My roomie is about sick of me wandering the house going Down Yonder Ba ba ba ba ba.

Lauri - hoping to swing that thang
