I'd sure love to find a site that is similar to The Session but geared toward French Canadian music. In particular, I'm looking for notation to Eddie's Reel. Does anyone have any good Quebecois sites to recommend? Thanks!

The Glenside Pennsylvania Thursday night contra dance has a web page with a link to their pick-up band S.P.U.D.S ( http://www.thursdaycontra.com/~spuds/TuneLinks.html). This site has a collection of reels, jigs and "everything else" in both abc and png. Eddie's Reel is there. I found and have been enjoying this site for a week or so and was just bustin' to tell somebody!

These folks who have a French Canadian trad music blog might know of one, KT. It would be awesome to find one, I agree!

THIS SITE may have something, at least it's got midis and notation from what I can tell. I don't read French that well.

I found both of those at THIS SITE.

Good luck!

The SPUDS site (above) contains links at the bottom to MIT's searchable index of all abc tunes on the web, Duke University's link to sites offering downloadable digitized heritage sheet music, and Yale's page to "free collections of tunes in graphic format (gif, jpg, pdf, or tif) and/or in ABC notation on the web".

One of the collections on Yale's page is Apprendre à jouer...? Learning to play...? with additional resources and a link to QueTrad · Café de la Musique Trad Québécoise , a bilingual yahoo group.

So if you have nothing else to do for, say, the next MONTH...go visit SPUDS.

Linda
