The cantankerous, lovable, selfish, generous set of contradictions died sometime this morning. At 91 he still lived alone. His last meal to my knowledge was liverwurst and Saltines. Music is the best gift he gave me after life. I believe he is at peace.

If you watch a ship sail to sea it will eventualy drop beyond the horizon. Because we cannot see it we are no longer sure of its whereabouts. We will one day sail beyond the horizon ourselves and who knows what sights we may see then! Until that time remember that even though we cannot see the ship, it is still there.

Sorry to hear and of course we are thinking of you....but then again, we think of you a lot.

I read your first sentence and then had to read the title again to be sure I wasn't the one who had died. When I read about the liverwurst and crackers, I knew he was my kind of guy.

Karen and I send you our best thoughts and sincerest sympathies. 91 years amounts to a lot of memories, some good and some bad, but that is the way things are supposed to work. Life amounts to much more than putting on a happy face. Textures and contours no matter the type add the real beauty.

And, uh, say..... if there is any liverwurst left, send it my way, huh?

Sinsdarlin', I am so sorry. As you know this is something I'm likely to face sometime soon. I hope my dad will still be at home (so far he is) and have had his favourite meal of an onion sandwich or peanut butter. At 87, still eating pb on white bread!

Your dad must've been one heck of an interesting person to have raised a daughter like you. I'd tell him THANKS for YOU and best wishes on the next leg of his journey.
