I started to simply put a message up which was just from me. But then I thought about it a little. There are many of us who are heading out on vacation soon. It would be nice to have a single place to post a message like the one I will start with in my next post.

I am really going to miss you guys! I will be out backpacking for the next couple of weeks in the Shenandoah National Park - far away from a computer. I almost dread coming back to so many threads to catch up on! Anyway, I will be thinking of you all while on the trail. I will catch up with you on June 16th.

Thanks RIB, I did get a couple of wonderful views of Old Rag but was busy climbing other mountains at the time. Old Rag has always been on my list of hikes to do. I did manage to hike the whole Shenandoah National Park from one end to the other - about 110 miles. There wasn't much music up there except the occasional call of a veery (strange bird call sounding like someone playing pipes of Pan in a well!). However I ran into a hiker who was carrying a Martin backpacker guitar on which I plinked a little. I found it to be a strange experience. I felt like someone had moved all of my usual "landmarks" and so found myself making fingering errors with both hands. I guess you can get used to it but I am not sure I would want to try. It is good to be back to the Mudcat. I missed you guys!

Welcome back, Allen. I was wondering where you were. I didn't see this thread. July 17th is still on and strong. Glenn's brother's 2 daughters did the whole Appalacian(?) trail last summer. It took them 4 months. They had a wonderful time. The Glenn, his brother and I were worried the whole 4 months.

Well, welcome back again.

Oh Allen, I forgot to tell you. Make sure to read "The Hokey Pokey and the Druids" thread. A classic.
