Subject: HELP REQ: Old Irish Song Book

I have just recently acquired a collection of Irish songs published in Australia about the turn of this century. Before posting a couple of dozen songs I would appreciate some expert advice as to whether I am wasting my time.

There are a couple of Thomas Moore tunes, some trad, and others by Crouch, Lover, Benedict, Jackson, Yorkston, Parry, Dufferin, Claribel, Campbell, Fox, Phillips, Brougham, Hays.

There is a version of Exile of Erin, which may be the Irish one Bob Bolton was chasing.

I know that this won't be everybody's cup of tea, and I don't want to waste my efforts either. If there is a reader or two with any knowledge of this era please drop me a message or an email to johninbrisbane@hotbot.com

John,

I would love to see these songs put in here. If you would like help and can scan some and email them, I would be happy to assist. mlane@accn.org

By all means post! But don't kill yourself in doing so. Do a few at a time - take a break and do more. I once volunteered to do a project that involved an entire book and ran out of both time and steam 1/3 of the way through. I still feel guilty about it. So now I tend to be less manic about things... which is quite frightening considering how manic I still am!

Thanks Guys, I'll get organised when I return home next week. This is the best activity I know to kill time in an airline lounge - ok, so there are others but they aren't available at this moment.

Regards
John
