Subject: Broadstairs Folk Week Woodshed Sessions From: GUEST,Synbyn Date: 23 Jul 10 - 08:02 AM Yes, it's on again this year- the Woodshed is back, in the Wrotham Arms with Jackie our new landlady in residence and a whole bunch of drop-in guests every day at 3pm... Bob Kenward is hosting as usual and Roger Resch will be there to add his accordian... Expect Dr Bob and Michela and Terry and all the regulars who make it a session to remember.... the Woodshed has become the place to be at three, or even a bit before... for a session where everyone is encouraged to play along andd to bring a song or tune for all to join in with- the Woodshed's all about what we can do together, rather than how fast we can play! (and it's for listeners too, propping up the bar....) see you there Bob |

Subject: RE: Broadstairs Folk Week Woodshed Sessions From: Rafflesbear Date: 31 Jul 10 - 03:12 PM Hi Synbyn I always found reference to the Woodshed sessions a bit confusing At first I thought it must be in a separate building behind the pub (the Woodshed) and that it was probably the sort of place where when you walked in all the regulars would go quiet and look at you Here's your chance to lay the myth .... |

Subject: RE: Broadstairs Folk Week Woodshed Sessions From: synbyn Date: 31 Jul 10 - 05:42 PM ah no, it's the kind of woodshed where old tunes and songs get sung.... we make sure everyone gets a fair go... never known a quiet woodshed... look forward to seeing you in there... |

Subject: RE: Broadstairs Folk Week Woodshed Sessions From: synbyn Date: 02 Aug 10 - 07:03 AM There is a late-night session up at the school on Friday 6th, with the Woodshed sessions prarper starting on Saturday 7th in the Wrotham Arms between 1500 and 1700 each day- guests have slots prearranged and most seem to throw themselves into the session once they see what's going on! Everyone is welcome to bring a song or tune to the session, and it is for participation- Giff let us use the line from When All Men Sing- we've all been to sessions which are in some way exclusive- well, the aim of the Woodshed is for everyone to go away having joined in for the full couple of hours.... Let every man so pitch his song/ to help his neighbour sing along.... see you there Bob |
