Help: paltalk hardware

I've been "lurking" about paltalk for a while, and without a mic, it's like starving and staring in the bakery window with no cash. My question is, if I have realplayer already, what kind of mic do I need, how much, and does quality play as much of a factor as it does in the "real" world. Do I need a new sound card or what. Any help appreciated, and I hope you won't regret it later{LOL} Mike

from what I can gather just a cheapie from Radio Shack / Tandy or whatever works fine.....

Apparently so- get a cheapo mic and try it? If it isn't satisfactory then you can cross more bridges...

Yep Ben, I got a $10 dollar Labtec mic from my college bookstore.

As has been said the quality of the mic seems to make little difference. The quality of the soundcard itself does however seem to make a difference to sound quality. Get a cheap mic and get started mate, it's a shame you've missed Jon's room. Maybe the new one will prove to be as good.
