Sorry Paddy, but there is nothing better than Emmylou's version of any song anywhere, any time. It's a kind of basic axiom, (like parallel lines never meeting)

Gotta agree with Murray. I've heard Willie's version and it is good, like everything Willie does. BUT, Emmylou's is The Definitive version. She has a way of making a song totally her own. This is one of my all time favorites by Emmylou.

I have been singing this song for years after I learned it from the Rodney Crowell album.When I heard Emmylou's version,it sent chills down my spine and made all my hair stand on end.

I have to agree that hers is the definitive version.
