Subject: Lucky Child! From: GUEST,Martin Ryan Date: 23 Sep 01 - 07:38 AM Sometimes you just get lucky. I walked into a bookshop in Galway yesterday and found a full set of the Dover edition of Childs "English and Scottish Popular Ballads" - for £30! Call it 35 dollars American. Jeez! It's in perfect condition - to the extent that I suspect it was sitting in a store somewhere since printed - never even opened. Regards |

Subject: RE: Lucky Child! From: Art Thieme Date: 23 Sep 01 - 11:32 AM Oh, MARTIN, congratulations---yes. A wonderful find. Here in the U.S. (at least in the middle of Illinois) book sales and garage/tag sales mean Harlequin Romance novels for lonely houswives. I wish mightily I was back on the road and could explore the wonderful used book stores in all the little towns I used to gig in --- where people still might read good stuff-------if they read at all except on their computers. Subject: RE: Lucky Child! From: Big Mick Date: 23 Sep 01 - 12:51 PM In every town and city I travel to, I always search out the book stores looking for this. Good man yerself, Martin. I am so happy that someone like you found this treasure. And I am positively green (what else?) with envy. WARNING!! If Art puts up for auction what I think he is going to put up, prepare to bid mightily. I am going to be in the thick of it............LOL. All the best, Mick |
