Subject: RE: December 23: Festivus From: GUEST,Desdemona Date: 23 Dec 01 - 04:32 PM My only problem is I can't remember where I put the damned aluminum pole away last year!!! Sigh...this hapens every year: you spend all this time & money getting ready for Festivus, and it's all over in an instant! |
Subject: RE: December 23: Festivus From: Sorcha Date: 23 Dec 01 - 04:45 PM Festivus is the patron Saint of Last Minute Shopping, right? I got a dumb question---we see all the ads, photos, etc. of The Beautiful Tree with Perfectly Wrapped Presents, and in Perfectly Shaped boxes.
WHERE THE HELL DO THE BOXES COME FROM??? At our house no one can ever find a box the right size, so things get wrapped with no box at all. Socks, funky shaped night lights, dog toys, etc. Does any one else have this problem? Could St. Festivus solve it for me? I have even tried to buy boxes--no luck! |

Subject: RE: December 23: Festivus From: Gaffer Date: 24 Dec 01 - 06:58 PM 23 December is Tom Bawcock's Eve; no-one seems to know who he was but the night is celebrated in Mousehole in Cornwall, where they serve the far-from-vegetarian "Starry Gazey Pie" which contains seven different types of fish, the heads of all of whom poke up through the pie-crust to gaze at the stars - not usually a rewarding pastime if a Mousehole winter is as I remember. There is a song - fairly widely-known, which even details the species of fish - more like a census than a menu. It's a bit late to wish you Mudcatters a happy Tom Bawcock's or a Happy Festivus , so you'll have to make do with a plain old "Merry Christmas! Gaff |
