Anyone know of any decent Music shops in NW Washington(US that is) My son is going over tomorrow (22nd UK time) and wants to browse..........also under instructions to browse on behalf of the old feller (moi). I'm particularly interested in getting an 'f' mandolin...........any ideas chaps ???

Well, here I am. If you mean Washington State somewhere near Seattle you have to visit Dusty Strings. They're in the Fremont neighborhood just north of downtown. They have a complete selection of acoustic instruments, very helpful and knowledgeable sales people, also CDs and music - a place not to miss. You might also try The Trading Musician for used instruments and electronic gear.

The House of Musical Traditions (http://www.hmtrad.com/) is in Takoma Park, next to Washington, DC, an easy ride on the Red LIne Metro to Takoma, and then a short (less-than-10-minute walk) from the Metro.
