I was wondering if there's anyone interested in collaborating musically on a recording project.Specifically, I have a song in the works for my next CD that is about as close as I get to a traditional-sounding folk song, and I'd love to have a little accompaniment on it--preferably fiddle and/or uillean pipes. So, I'd need someone with access to digital recording, so that they can record a WAV file of their part and mail it to me, so I can import it into my recorder.
I recently went and had a listen to the Lincolnshire-based band Cara, after reading of them on the forum, and they're the sort of players I'd love to hook up with. I liked what I heard, a lot, and it started me thinking how great it would be to record a song over here in the US and have someone from my home county add a little local flavour to it. It would be a lovely way of reconnecting with my roots and all that. All apologies if I sound a little sappy here; the bottom line is, I am a bit of a sentimetal sod when it comes to England. I've been away for over twenty years now and I do seem to be writing more about the old girl these days.
Like many of us, I suspect, I'm on a shoestring budget so I can't afford to pay for session
players, so it's a little awkward to solicit such quality musicians for a pittance. Ideally I'd like to be able to contribute something musical in return, but I may be able to swing a little cash, if not. (I'll check with the missus!)
Admittedly, my music is generally closer to folky-pop rather than the more trad. approach, but such a juxtaposition might make for an interesting musical spark or two. If any interested parties want to have a listen to samples (to see if I can at least sing in tune!), they can check the link below(the folkiest of the bunch would probably be "The Golden Age Of Steam" or "England's Green")
I hope I'm not transgressing any unwritten rules/protocol etc, with this post; just thought I'd ask. Thanks for your time. Cheers to all, Steve R.

Steve Robinson

I'd love to help if I could, but I have neither the technical equipment nor any spending money. I'm sure some other Mudcatter will be able to help you.

Sounds like fun. I have played violin/fiddle for more than 40 years in a variety of styles and venues. I am semi retired ( still work in broadcasting). I have the equipment necessary to record and send tracks. I listened to your work on your website and like the sound. Let's collaborate.

I thought this thread was going to be about "The Who"'s rock opera "Tommy":
"I'm Your wicked Uncle Ernie
I'm glad you can't see or hear me
As I fiddle about..."

I'm just giving this one a bump for swingfiddle. Just wondered if you ever received my message? Happy New One! Steve R.
